Allyn’s health care career spans 35+ years. Her first love as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse of more than 20 years led to her second career as an NIDCAP certified Infant Developmental Specialist. As a NICU nurse Allyn provided hands-on nursing care to ill and premature infants. In the role of Developmental Specialist, she was responsible for assessing how the world around them impact the development and health of these immature babies. She then provided interaction guidance to their family and caregivers based on the infant’s cues.
These experiences piqued Allyn’s interest in the process to provide the best products used in the care of patients. Allyn spent the last10 years of her career as the Clinical Supply Program Director of a large IDN. As a nurse in corporate supply chain Allyn engaged multidisciplinary teams to select the best clinically and financially viable products for use in the system. Allyn and team were responsible for several standardization initiatives resulting in over a million dollars in savings while improving care and reducing risks to patients and staff. During her tenure in supply chain Allyn served on a national GPO’s Nursing Committee, representing her IDN during the GPO contracting process.
